The Startup Societies Summit was held in San Francisco on August 11, 2017 and was organized by the Startup Societies Foundation. The event convened researchers, builders, and practitioners working on experimental governance and new jurisdictional models.
The program covered a range of topics related to the past, present, and future of special jurisdictions and startup societies. Discussions drew on historical experiences, current experiments, and forward-looking questions, providing a shared space to exchange perspectives and align understanding across different approaches.
Alongside formal sessions, the Summit allowed participants to connect informally, compare ongoing work, and continue conversations across topics. The emphasis throughout the event was on shared exploration and coordination among people already engaged in building and studying new forms of jurisdiction.
